Guess the Sun Sign

As an astrologer I am often asked to guess someone’s sign and although I tend to regard this as a bit of a “party piece” it’s surprising how often you can get it right. If you know what to look for, and how to ask the right questions, this is easier than you might imagine. Here are some tricks of the trade……

Aries
Physical appearance - Aries rules the head and you can often spot this sign by the sharp profile, high cheekbones, an aquiline nose and firm jaw. Migraines, burns or injuries to the head or face are common afflictions – look for a scar. An Aries woman is either red haired or has dyed her hair red at some point in her life – the colour of Aries’ ruler Mars. Both sexes look great in a hat, anything from a baseball cap to an Ascot speciality.

Manner – Aries people are energetic, impatient and direct. They are the first to volunteer to do something and they do it straight away. They have a knack of getting straight to the point or finding the positive answer.

Famous Aries people – Russell Crowe, Celine Dion

Taurus
Physical appearance - This sign rules the throat and the neck – look for the short, muscular neck or the long swan one. Taureans are susceptible to bad throats, tonsillitis or laryngitis – but often have rich, sensual or gravelly voices. They are ruled by Venus and ooze softness and sensuality. The women are usually incredibly feminine – look for the ribbons and bows. Skinny Taureans do exist but more usually both sexes can put on weight easily.

Manner – Taurus people are patient, slow and deliberate. If you try to rush them they get even slower – or just plain obstinate. They are connoisseurs of beauty, style, comfort – and food. They can be hilariously funny.

Famous Taurus people – Jack Nicholson, Victoria Wood

Gemini
Physical Appearance – Gemini rules the hands and arms and you can often spot this sign by the way they gesticulate with their hands in order to express themselves – which they do frequently and energetically. Gemini’s ruler is Mercury, the planet of communication, and Gemini eyes dance and flicker as they quickly compute all the information coming their way. They often favour multi-coloured clothes – look for checks or stripes, or just a riot of colour.

Manner – Gemini is the chatterbox of the zodiac. They just love to chew your ear off and their speech is rapid, excitable and animated. There’s often a playful nature, a quick wit and a slapstick sense of humour.

Famous Gemini people – Johnny Depp, Angelina Jolie 

Cancer
Physical Appearance – Cancerians are ruled by the Moon, and there’s your first clue. Look for the round face with the wide smile, just like pictures of the Man in the Moon! When that smile breaks into laughter it’s unbelievably infectious. Look for beautiful soft eyes that telegraph care and sympathy, especially in the women. There’s a tendency to plumpness round the middle unless they’re very mindful of diet and exercise.

Manner – Just as the Moon waxes and wanes so are Cancer people changeable in their moods. They’re often indirect and evasive – this is the sign of the crab so a Cancerian will crab-walk sideways rather than confront.

Famous Cancer people – Nelson Mandela, Princess Diana

Leo
Physical Appearance – this sign rules the back and you can often spot a Leo by their straight spines and excellent posture. Alternatively they will suffer from a back problem of some kind. The Lion is the king of the zodiac so look for that regal bearing, the big cat profile – and the mane! Many Leos favour long thick or shaggy hair. Leo people are ruled by the Sun so look for sun kissed faces, highlights, bright clothing and gold jewelry.

Manner – Leos are proud – sometimes arrogant. They love to hold center stage and they simply adore attention and compliments. Look for the show off or the entertainer. They are born organizers and can come over as bossy.

Famous Leo people – Bill Clinton, Madonna

Virgo
Physical Appearance – Here is the perfectionist and a typical Virgo is always immaculately put together – perfectly groomed hair, clean crisp clothes, shined shoes and matching accessories. A typical Virgo woman wouldn’t dream of leaving the house without her makeup on. Everything is slightly understated but don’t be fooled – it takes ages to look this good! Virgos are the worriers of the zodiac – look for the pensive expression or the frown.

Manner – Virgos are ruled by Mercury – the planet of the mind. They analyse, rationalize and criticize. If they ask you a question they pick apart your answer – but in a very polite, demure and proper way.

Famous Virgo people – Colin Firth and Cameron Diaz

Libra
Physical Appearance - Libra is ruled by Venus and is the sign of beauty, balance and charm – most Librans are real good lookers. Look for regular features, a full sensual mouth, a seductive smile and sometimes a dimple in the chin. The eyes are often almond shaped and just beautiful, whatever the colour. They are also followers of fashion and can pick out the right outfit at twenty paces.

Manner – Libra is the sign of partnership and are natural diplomats – they often ask what YOU think but remain indecisive themselves. One side of the scales is diplomatic and tactful – the other is passive, unassertive and dithers.

Famous Libra people – Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones

Scorpio
Physical Appearance – Scorpio is the sign of power and control – so look for that frozen front, the person who doesn’t want to give anything away. Many Scorpio women have that “ice-maiden” type beauty. Scorpio’s still waters run deep and you can often sense a passionate, powerful nature sizzling just under the cool surface, especially when they fix you with that intense, probing Scorpio gaze. Many exude a sultry sexuality and favour the colour black.

Manner – There is nothing superficial about this sign. Feelings run deep so listen out for extremes – good or bad, love or hate. They love to find out what makes you tick – and they’re good at it too! They know the power of money. 

Famous Scorpio people – Bill Gates, Demi Moore

Sagittarius
Physical Appearance – It’s unusual to find a small Sag. These individuals are usually tall, or just plain big. They’ll remind you of a racehorse as they gallop along – or of a rather large friendly dog when they walk all over your feet. This sign rules the hips – look for that long swinging stride or wide hips. Look for fine eyes – they may be on the small side but they dance with life, and they’ll meet your gaze with a disarming frankness and intense interest.

Manner – a typical Sag is larger than life, the life and soul of the party and the soul of generosity. They’re immediately friendly with a big smile. They are also tactless – but they don’t mean it. They just zing out truths without thinking.

Famous Sagittarian people – Brad Pitt, Britney Spears

Capricorn
Physical Appearance – As the sign of the tough mountain goat many Capricorns have strong frames, either wiry or heavy set. This sign rules the bones and most Capricorns have an excellent bone structure, giving them striking or unusual faces. They grow younger looking as they get older, a compensation for looking old when they were young. This sign also rules the skin – look for afflictions such as eczema or psoriasis.

Manner – A typical Capricorn is cautious, conservative and incredibly polite. They are ruled by Saturn, the planet of boundaries, and they like to know where they stand. Look for a quiet reserve and personal dignity.

Famous Capricorn people – David Bowie, Kate Moss

Aquarius
Physical Appearance – This sign rules the ankles – look for lovely slender ankles, especially in the women. Aquarius also rules the circulation – look for the person huddled in a sweater on a warm day! This sign has two distinct types – the Saturnian type dresses conservatively, the Uranian type experiments wildly and can look eccentric. Look for stunning eyes, often a piercing metallic blue, that blaze with intelligence.

Manner – Aquarians are friendly but not instantly intimate. They may even come across as quite cool or strangely detached on a first meeting. They have very decided opinions, especially about what is right or wrong.

Famous Aquarius people – Robbie Williams, Jennifer Aniston 

Pisces
Physical Appearance – Pisces’ symbol is the two fishes, and many Pisceans bear a striking facial resemblance to the fish. Look for the wide mouth, dreamy glinting eyes set wide apart, sometimes protruding. Those same eyes easily brim with tears at sad stories or hurtful comments. In the physical body this sign rules the feet. There is often a problem with the feet, and they either love or hate shoes – and they have a distinctive walk.

Manner – A typical Piscean is highly sensitive, imaginative and sympathetic. They’ll do anything for you, especially if you are in genuine need. They’re also great at getting you to do things for them – but in a gentle, subtle way.

Famous Pisces people – Michael Caine, Liza Minnelli
