astrology and the tarot A Personal Interpretation by Melanie I feel
I have an alternative, perhaps more basic, perspective on astrological
significance of the Major Arcana to the usual connections that are
made. The below are my own personal interpretations but it is
perfectly feasible for people to have different interpretations.
Below is a simple chart depicting each sign of the zodiac and the card of the major arcanca that I belive it represents.
The Fool = Aries ![]() Aries
is the Newborn and discovers existence. The Fool is fearless
yet vulnerable, innocent, A wise leader and prophet, yet naive to the
ways of the world. The Magician = Taurus Taurus
is the Baby manipulates possessions. The Magician skillfully
manifests material and spiritual wealth using the tools he posesses. The Priestess = Gemini Gemini
is the Child creates thought and Intuition. The Priestess is
Diana/Artemis twin of Apollo/Helios the Sun God and Godess of the
chase. Intuitive, quick representing duality expressed through the
feminine creative element, seeing the natural order in the chaos of
existence and magick full of learning and knowledge. The Empress = Cancer Cancer
is the Adolescent and feels emotion. The Empress is the Great
Mother Goddess, creative, abundant and giving, she is Gaia and Pele,
Mother Earth bringing forth all existance but can be furious
destruction in her rage. She is pure emotion. The Emperor = Leo Leo
is the Teenager and uses the will. Master of the material
Plane, king of all he surveys Power without match, A kind benevolent
ruler, or a rod of Iron? The Heirophant = Virgo Virgo
is the Adult analyses chaos, seeking order. The Heirophant
keeper of conventions, striving for spiritual perfection, seeking to
impose order on chaos, lives by example, a critic and berator.
Having attained maturity, the adult progresses. The Lovers = Libra Libra
seeks Balance through partnership / Marriage. The Lovers
reflects the choice to be made, the balance to be kept, seeking to
balance the self through union with another. The Chariot = Scorpio Scorpio
seeks fulfillment through Desire / Sex. The Chariot, the ego
moving forward via the will and desire, learning the power of dominance
versus submission, passion without care for consequence, never to admit
defeat.Justice = Saggitarius Saggitarius
sees Knowledge and Fairness. Justice Honest, Fair and
impartial, Wise beyond years, Philosophical and ultimately Optimistic.
Instinctive and a true believer.Hermit = Capricorn Capricorn
uses experience and is the seeker of
knowledge. He withdraws from the excesses of the world to begin a new
spiritual journey, but he is not hidden from the world, just not living
by its conventions, seeking a higher ambition in a slow but determined
methodical way.![]() Fortune = Aquarius Aquarius
knows Idealism. Wheel of Fortune, an idealist, he sees the
world for what it is and as a result seems otherworldly. He plays the
game and takes a risk knowing all that rises must fall.Strength = Pisces Pisces
is Submission and Belief. Strength is the Goddess that
pacifies the Lion, yet she and the lion are one. By accepting the
ferocity of the lion she subdues her inner demon, but does not
eradicate him accepting herself as whole, integrating the light andthe
dark she utilise true strength.
Pisces is the first step on the inner journey.I further see astrological
correlations amongst the Major Arcana :
